Some medications may cause Cushing's syndrome.

Prednisone and hydrocortisone are examples of cortisol-like drugs, which, if taken at too high a dosage, may cause Cushing's syndrome. This syndrome is noted for weight gain in the abdomen and face, high blood pressure and muscle loss. If you are taking one of these drugs and suspect Cushing's syndrome, be sure to see a doctor about lowering your dosage.
