ARMI, PATIENT: When I first went to see her, I had severe pain in my back and behind my neck and every moment I spent worrying about every little thing was making me into a physical wreck

ANNOUNCER: Armi turned to acupuncture to deal with painful physical symptoms that seemed to stem from anxiety and panic attacks.

ARMI, PATIENT: She made me see the connections between my emotions and what was going on with my body, and psychologically, too. And I would get a better understanding of why I was getting the symptoms that I was and why there was a blockage of energy in that part of my body and how it would throw everything out of whack

ANNOUNCER: Acupuncturist Christine Rizzo works with patients to help relieve symptoms.

CHRISTINE RIZZO, ACUPUNCTURIST: What happens is over time their symptoms decrease and they feel more and more well. They begin to feel a greater and greater sense of wellness from within.

ANNOUNCER: Acupuncture may also help some patients relieve stress and anxiety and increase awareness.

CHRISTINE RIZZO, ACUPUNCTURIST: I think one of the really cool things that happens with acupuncture is the increase in awareness. People become more aware of their state, more aware of their body and more aware of how their relationship to their experience is driving their practical or physical or tangible experience. That goes a long way in preventing things from getting out of hand and creating bigger and bigger problems.

ANNOUNCER: Thanks for joining us on today’s Once Daily.
